Description: Born on November 21 1919, Josef “Pepi” Jennewein initially achieved fame as a world champion skier. However, hes also perhaps better remembered as a Luftwaffe ace in WWII. He flew 271 missions and achieved 86 victories, nearly all of them on the Eastern Front. Oberfeldwebel Jennewein disappeared after force-landing his Fw 190A-6 behind Russian lines in July 1943, and was later posthumously awarded the Ritterkreuz.
